myTracks – More personalized Indy music for you

myTracks is yet another music sharing site building up nicely. myTracks focus is – DRM-free mp3 based Indy music. Need I say more whom they favor? myTracks has all the bell and whistles to bring up the best music like ability to create custom playlists, sharing of playlists, tracking of upcoming shows. Since I ain’t a Indy music regular, can’t say how good is the community effect at myTracks ’cause you need to lot of crap before the genius shines through.

Anyway, myTracks seems to have pretty relaxed policies around music listening and sharing. You can listen to songs online for free, while you might need to pay a small monthly fee to download and own the songs. Downloading is all via web, which in other words means no p2p. From there on you can take your songs anywhere, onto your iPod, or CD. Even if you come out of the monthly service, the mp3s you purchased stay with your account. myTracks parent company FreshTracksMusic is currently trying to build a network with universities to make the hassle free music available everywhere.

mytracks is quite possibly one of the worst sites I’ve ever been to. While the music actually is quite good in some areas, the site itself is horrible.

  2. Marty Says:

I disagree with Eric. The site is not perfect, but for the price, you can’t beat it. Some of the music is really terrific. I had a question and it was answered by them very quickly.

  3. Jason Says:

I have to agree that it’s indeed probably one of the worst sites I’ve ever seen. Not only that, it doesn’t even seem to work half of the time when trying to listen to a song. Will not be recommending to any friends..
