Podbridge – Podcasting advertiser gets funded

Mountain View, CA based Podbridge has raised $8 million in funding for it’s advertising network that lets podcasters generate revenue from their work. The funding round was led by Sutter Hill Ventures and also participated by earlier backers including Mayfield and Worldview Technology Partners.

Podbridge offers an end to end solution that can automatically insert ads into podcasts, maintains and build an advertiser network, and also provides metrics around usage. From the advertiser perspective they get to deliver targeted ads by taking into account user demographics, time period, and ability to place ads in select podcasts, while also taking care of impression count to come up the CPM for their campaigns. Podbridge’s current heavy weight customer list includes CNet, InfoWorld, Forbes among others.

Yodio is another startup that is looking to enable podcasters and content creators to make money albeit directly.
