China’s web boom gets ChinaCache big funds

Content Delivery Network (CDN) company ChinaCache has gone through a big funding round to keep up the growth in China. ChinaCache raised a $32 million in the Series B round of funding from Ignition Partners, Susquehanna International Group (SIG), JAFCO Asia and Starr International recently. ChinaCache was founded in 1998 and includes 115 service nodes. ChinaCache had earlier raised $8.5 million in funding from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, JAFCO Asia, Intel Capital and Investor Growth Capital in 2005.

ChinaCache was founded in 1998 currently has 115 service nodes with a 100Gpbs network capacity. Earlier in this year ChinaCache had partnered with London based RawFlow to use RawFlow’s p2p technology for streaming of content to handle peak loads around the Chinese New Year. Is this the reason for Akamai’s recent acquisition of Red Swoosh? ChinaCache has big plans for future hoping to capture 10% of worldwide CDN.
